Recycled favourites at H&M’s Conscious Collection 2015

In 2013, our favourite shopping destination H&M launched a worldwide garment collection initiative that encouraged shoppers to denote their unwanted wears in store so they could be recycled into wearable, eco-friendly and fabulous fashions. This Autumn/Winter, H&M will be releasing 16 new denim styles that have been produced from the textiles and garments collected over the past two years.

The collection covers all the bases; the Sassy girls of Singers can be decked out in vintage style girlfriend jeans, fabulous flared dungarees and an utterly amazing denim jacket(that is already added to my AW15 wish list!) while the boys can sport an uber cool zip-up hoodie, slim leg style jeans as well as joggers coated in denim. This exciting collection is contemporary, cool and even more importantly is making a huge difference to our environment.

H&M is aiming to create a closed loop for its textiles, in which fabrics from unwanted clothes can be recycled into new ones. This would reduce the impact on the environment by limiting the amount of waste that goes into landfill as well as save on natural resources and here at Sassy, we are all about the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle mantra.

To highlight the importance of saving the environment for future generations, H&M has also enlisted a group of students from LASALLE to help share their message. The students will be taking over the window display of the Orchard Building flagship store and it looks like it’s set to be a truly special collaboration. The students will be conveying the importance of recycling through handcrafted instillations made with recycled denim. As a huge lover of H&M and a big advocate for recycling, I can’t wait to see what the students of LASALLE have in-store for their big window debut!

Both the collection and the window display have already launched on 3 September, so be sure to head down to H&M stat to check out not only this amazing collection but also to see the wonderful window display by some of Singapore’s most talented youngsters.
