See the Future of Singapore with Archifest 2015.

You know we love updating on the latest happenings so next month sees the arrival of Archifest, which promises to be an interactive, fun and thought-provoking festival celebrating Singapore’s fabulous city-scape and all its wonders.  The festival is a wonderful event and perfect for all the family with workshops for the kids, interactive installations and interesting talks to attend. This year’s Archifest named “What future?” is all about looking ahead and encouraging us to imagine what could be in store for The Lion City over the next 50 years.

The two week-long festival has a diverse range of activities on offer and at Sassy HQ, we’re extremely excited about it!  If like us, you are already planning your trip, here is a little run down of our Top Four things to look forward to from Archifest 2015.

  1. Interactive Installations

When you are walking around a creative atmosphere there is nothing better than actually getting involved. Luckily for us there are a number of Interactive Installations that encourage creativity and a more hands on approach. We Build This City, invites visitors to express their visions and imagine the future of Singapore’s cityscape. Using models you can create your very own Singers and imagine the buildings that will sit next to well-known sites such as Marina Bay.

  1. Thought-provoking Talks

Throughout the event you can expect intellectual, interesting and inspiring talks from architects, artists and farmers offering a unique insight into Singapore and its future. City-Studio, will enable visitors to get up close and personal with designers and planners in order to learn what goes into making the city and learn how thoughtful design can overcome problems in the future. The aim is to “bring the intellectual conversation within the design studio, out to the city,” and I can’t wait to get involved.

  1. Amazing Archi-tours

A signature part of the Archifest programme is their guided city tours, designed to uncover hidden architectural gems, give you a further insight into Singaporean design as well as educate us on the strategies employed by architects when creating some of our most beautiful buildings. With a list of locations to choose there is ample opportunity to take part, I for one am already looking forward to the National Gallery Singapore and Mahabodhi Monastery Tour.

  1. Exciting Exhibitions

Known for its enthralling exhibitions Archifest brings together some of the most creative imaginative talents to exhibit their work. There will be a myriad of exhibitions to visit that will both entertain and educate. The New Good Old Days, for me is the most exciting, this digital exhibition features old icons of Singapore such as The National Theatre and will bring them back to life set alongside some against our current icons and promises to be utterly stunning.

Archifest 2015 will run from the 26th Sept-10 October at Festival Village and admission is free. Archifest provides unmissable opportunity to learn and take an active role in the future of our gorgeous city! So what are you waiting for? Save the date and let’s get creating.
